Instructor Information

This section should include:

  • your name and title
  • office location
  • office telephone and fax information
  • email address
  • office hours
  • course website or URL

This list is a detailed resource students can use to contact you. Instructors do not usually give their personal telephone or pager numbers to students. If you feel that your subject area may require you to give students your personal cell, home telephone, or pager number, discuss this with your department chair before doing so. If in doubt, don't give students your personal contact information.

If you do not have a webpage, think about creating one. Your department webpage may provide a link to faculty websites. This could make your contact information easy for students to locate online. Some faculty provide assignments, syllabi, discussion forums, reading lists, and Internet research resources online, which is an easy way to disseminate information asynchronously. SFSU offers free computer instruction in website creation (and many other software programs) through the Division of Information Technology and the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching.
