Student Surveys

Feedback also plays a crucial role for the instructor. Student surveys can be used to find ways in which the instructor can improve. This type of feedback helps ensure that the content of the class is accessible to the widest range of students possible. Use surveys to seek feedback from students through questions such as:

  • What was the most confusing point of today's class period?
  • What were the most important things you learned today?
  • What were the two most important aspects of class today?
  • Which concept was the least clear?
  • What important question remains unanswered?
  • What would help you to better understand the concepts taugt?
  • What was the least satisfying aspect of today's class period?
  • Which topic needs more coverage?
  • Which concept did you discover through today's lecture demonstration?
  • Do you feel comfortable answering questions in class?

Give students ample time to answer the surveys and encourage them to be as specific and expansive in their answers as possible.
