Planning to use Academic TechnologyChallenge 1:No one learning strategy works for all students. They all have different strengths and weaknesses. They learn on different time tables and use a variety of learning styles to master information. Many students are not aware of their own learning strategies nor what works best for them. They do not know how to employ different techniques, different tools and different approaches in the learning process. Challenge 2:Some course content and activities do not readily lend themselves to the use of technology. Faculty questions include: what, if any, portion of their courses can be delivered online; how/if technology can be used to enhance their classes; and what tools are available to support effective teaching and learning? Challenge 3:Faculty do not have the resources available to create the learning tools necessary to effectively present course materials electronically. Many do not have the technical expertise to build electronic tools and others do not have the time required to develop electronic resources for their courses. |
